I spent the weekend in NY with some fellow CCS’ers - Beth Hetland was my hilarious travel companion/spooning buddy and, we had such a great time that the only thing missing was my best friend Jeph Porter .

Uncork the cheap champagne and throw on some Queen because Tales from San Papel is finally FINALLY finished!
I’ve spent the last 3 months working on this 100+ page anthology, all set in the fictional western frontier town of San Papel.
Out of sheer nostalgia, I went on a sleep deprived online shopping spree and bought several Dover Press cut and assemble paper models. I convinced my good pal and classmate Jon Fine to hunker down with me, a glue-stick and an xacto knife for an afternoon and build a miniature old west town. When we were finished I dubbed the town “San Papel” and mused aloud about how rad it would be if we could convince a few of our fellow CCS’ers to draw some comics that took place there.
Somehow we managed to charm, bribe and blackmail 22 cartoonists into contributing pieces for this crazy project and, armed with pencils, ink, a little ingenuity and the fantastic art direction of the beautiful Beth Hetland, here are the fruits of our labors!
Excitement, adventure, comedy, tragedy, drama and a little bit of downright creepiness are all contained within the pages of this hand-bound anthology! I’ll have copies for sale both this Saturday at The Silent Barn and at MoCCA in April (both in NYC). We did a fairly limited print-run so, if you’d like to purchase a copy but can’t make it to either of those events, email me and we’ll figure out how to get you one while I’ve still got copies. The books will be $9.99 a pop when you buy them directly from any contributor and $12.99 if purchased online to cover shipping costs.

A couple of days ago fellow cartoonist and partner in crime Jen Vaughn and I watched The Last Unicorn during a drawing session and, this is the magical result of her efforts! She drew us RIDING F*CKIN’ UNICORNS!!! If that’s not the ultimate benchmark of true friendship, I don’t know what is…and I need to rethink everything…
This week, trying my hand at pottery as well as comics! Unfortunately, I’ve yet to find a way to get this mug up to 88 miles per hour. On the bright side, I have found that my overall state of bliss is directly related to the number of things I own that feature flux capacitors.
Finally, ladies and gentlemen, here it is! The result of a sleepless, two week comic-a-thon! With my fantastic and talented classmates Josh Kramer, Tom Casteel, Carl Mefferd, Andy Christiansen and Jesse Mead, and under the leadership of the legendary Stephen R. Bissette himself, we conceived of, wrote, penciled, inked, scanned, colored, In-Designed and printed an entire 32-page full color true crime comic in TWO WEEKS!
There were four stories total, all written penciled, inked and colored by various members of our team - don’t forget to click on my classmates’ links and check out the other parts of LADY KILLERS! They’re f*ckin’ awesome!
The following bloody mess is a story Andy Christiansen and I co-wrote, I penciled, he inked and we collaboratively colored. Enjoy!
