As many of you know, I’ve spent my summer interning at San Francisco’s Cartoon Art Museum. Here’s a preview of the comic I’m creating for them where our guide, Growlix, teaches us what “thumbnailing” is!
I just finished an illustration project on comic shops through the ages - here’s a peek at the 1990’s!
Phew! Just got back from four days of camping in Kings Canyon National Park with the always lovely and brilliant, Nell Voss. We spent 90% of our time talking about food, and bears, and keeping bears away from our food and 10% of our time battling armies of insects. It was a blast. I’m dirty and I’d like to eat something that doesn’t involve hot dogs.
So, I’ve been a bit of a stress case lately - maybe this extended stay in my hometown is dredging up residual teen angst, or I miss the structure of school, or both. Whatever it is, it’s got to end before I ruin all my socks.
I’ve been listening to The Detroit Cobras a lot lately - and apparently doodling their lead singer in my sketchbook.

I started my internship at the Cartoon Art Museum this week! And, conveniently, one of my favorite delis has a shop across the street - conversely, I’ve now limited myself to a summer of vegetarianism. Three cheers for avocado and swiss!!!
